A storm was moving in throughout the afternoon and we could see snow and rain in the distance. As we were leaving the park the clouds parted just enough to allow light to fill the valley in a warm yellow glow. I raced to the top of a small mesa and composed this image. The sky was full of clouds except at the edge of the horizon where the sun was setting. I was able to capture this truly classic winter desert landscape. The last light of the day transformed the red desert into a warm and soft yellow light. When printed you can even see the lines of snow falling to the ground in the distance.
