Great Basin National Park is a large park in Northeastern Nevada with the highlight being Wheeler Peak that we can see in the distance. This image was captured around 9,000 feet up on a rocky mountain side. Wheeler Peak in the distance stands just about 13,000 feet above sea level. I had to be careful to plan this photo, I wanted to have soft light wash over the immense valley below highlighting the pine and aspen trees. The sun will drop behind the mountains about an hour before sunset starts. on this day I was able to capture both the soft light in the valley and the wonderful clouds that turned yellow and purple as the sun dipped below the horizon.
