Rialto Beach is known for its rocky beaches, giant drift logs, pounding waves, giant seastacks and amazing sunsets. I’ve been here a number of times for sunset and even if the sky lacks clouds it’s still an amazing experience. It was a very cold and windy late November evening when I captured this photo. I spent a few hours climbing over all the logs until I found something that I felt was truly interesting. I placed this massive old log right in the foreground of my image and centered the islands in the middle of the frame. As the sun got lower in the sky it cast a warm light on the beach, and caused the mist to glow yellow and orange. I took another capture right as the sun was at the horizon in the last few seconds of light for the day. This image conveys a wonderful depth and feeling of serenity to it.
