I awoke long before sunrise to find the entire area covered in deep fog, I headed out to see if there was the possibility for a photo anywhere. I headed up to the deep glacially carved Lake Crescent, nestled in the northern foothills of the Olympic Mountains.

What I found when I got to the area was amazing. I headed to the boat launch and looked upon a lake that was both covered in mist rising from the water and clouds and fog coming down from the sky. I found these three pillars that in the summer support a dock. I centered them in my frame and took a series of exposures. This image is all about symmetry, from the three pillars in the foreground to the dark mountains on each side. The mist, fog and clouds add a sense of contrast and wonder to the entire photo.
