Everyday I spent in Pinnacles National Park started the same, a 1.5 mile hike well before sunrise to the Bear Gulch Reservoir. It’s not a very hard hike though it is uphill almost all the way. In the daylight the you can see many splendid things along the way, mountains, valleys, explore caves etc. My interest was what happens when the sunrises in the reservoir area. I was never disappointed with my early morning hikes. Having this area to ourselves in those still moments before dawn proved to be very worthwhile.

On one morning a fair bit after sunrise the light was just starting to hit this high valley. The trees across the water for me caught the light and you could almost feel them glowing. The water was calm and allowed for a clear reflection of the scene in front of me.
