The Soberanes Point and Whale Peak area is full of all sorts of natural wonders. There is a 2 mile-ish trail that takes you through fields of beautiful wild flowers down to a rocky shoreline that looks out of the Pacific Ocean. This entire region is a example of the wild and undisturbed central California coastline.

What drew me to this spot was a decent size hill you could climb that overlooks the entire area. From here I was able to compose a frame that captured the wildflowers right in front of me with the last light of the day just hitting them. From there you could see the fields of brush and flowers all the way down to the rough and rocky coastline. Finally I was given a wonderful California sunset with the sky coming to life and the clouds glowing a vibrant yellow.

The best part about enjoying the sunset from this vantage point is the sense of peace and calm you get. We were alone on top of this hill several hundred feet about all the other passersby, watching the sunset and enjoying the beauty of this special place in the world.
