This high alpine lake is a favorite for many people who visit Mount Rainier National Park. Located in the Cascade Range almost at the summit of Chinook Pass the area can provide stunning views of the mountain. However, many days the view of the mountain is blocked by clouds. This is a “VAST” image, one comprised of dozens of individual photographs and put together to create a single 350 megapixel image. I had some luck in creating this photo, I was in the area hours before sunset. The clouds where moving in and out throughout the day. As sunset approached I was able to quickly capture this image right before more clouds blew in and blocked the view for the rest of the evening. The clouds and rays of light add a sense of drama to a spectacular view.
