I’ve been to the Observatory deck on top of Rockefeller Center a number of times always hoping for a sunset like this. On a late and somewhat warm September evening I was able to capture this view of New York City. The day had been mostly cloud free, but as the afternoon waned the clouds stated to roll in. The deck was packed with people and I had to get my spot a good 2 hours before sunset. It was well worth the wait, this is one of the best sunsets I’ve seen all year. The clouds lit up over the skyline and created a warm red light throughout the entire city. Directly in front of me is the Empire State building and One World Trade is downtown to right. The Hudson River is glowing red from the sunset and the building lights were just going on throughout the scene.
