Around seven miles north of Kailua-Kona you can find Kohanaiki Beach Park sometimes referred to as Pine Trees Beach. This long stretch of beach has something for everyone, including sandy beaches, surfing, and of course for me photography. As you walk up the beach passed the trees that have been preserved the sand stops and the shoreline turns to lava. You can hike out a significant distance here and if you come looking for some solitude you can find it here.

I walked rather far out until I found this place. Right in front of me where two lave tubes, and I stood and watched the water poor over them and then drain out. The tide was not high, nor did I have any large waves. As the sun was setting a few clouds hung around the sky and create a wonderful warm color to everything. The last bit of light can be seen hitting the water directly in front of me. I have tried to capture how peaceful and calm this amazing beach was. With the water slowly washing over the lava and the warm sky in the distance.
