Something about the cracked mud of Death Valley is so alluring you just have to try and seek it out. In most years there is very little to be found, and even if you do its often covered in footprints and rather ruined. On this cold January morning not only did I come come across a massive area of this elusive phenomenon but it also faced directly towards where the sun would rise. I setup in almost the pitch dark and waited for the ‘magic’. What came out was this stunning time blended image, with a sun-star, light on the cracked mud and the sky full of color, life and movement.
